Secretary/Treasurers report
This is my report for the 2024 season. We received subscriptions from 158 members which is only 7 less than the number received in 2023 and in addition there were 16 new members. It is a healthy membership but the numbers playing in the events is quite disappointing. We were unable to reach agreement with Brora on a green fee and so this event was cut from the fixture list. However the decision to run the Bonar Bridge event as an individual stableford was a success and I suggest this is kept in the fixture list in 2025. Portmahomack have expressed an interest in running a men’s stableford in early May to replace the Brora fixture and this will be put to the AGM. Most events had lower entries than previous years but all meetings went ahead and managed to provide the Society with over £2,000 thanks to the increased amount we received from the entry fee. Hopefully all member clubs were happy with the amounts they received. We had to purchase 20 dozen balls for prizes and a stock of bag tags this year and that cost £500 but apart from that the Society incurred only minimal expenditure and has a surplus of just over £2,300 for the year and accumulated funds of £3,815. This means that the society will be able to make a substantial donation to charity this year. I propose we donate the surplus of £2,500 to local charities and the committee will decide on the chosen charities in due course. This will still leave the society with a reasonable float going into 2025 when it is hoped to run a full fixture list.
